April Showers Bring May Flowers

If April showers bring May flowers, what do Mayflowers bring?

Anyway, spring continues to be a magnificent and infuriating tease. This past weekend it got up to nearly 80 degrees and was sunny and clear and absolutely beautiful. Today it was freezing cold and pouring rain. Again.

Have been doing bits of revision but I’ve mostly been in an artistic mood lately. See what I’ve been working on!

I sketched this thinking I might use this in some sort of website/blog redesign. I like how the image turned out, but I couldn’t figure out how to use it. It was just 2H pencil that I painted in Corel Painter Essentials, but I didn’t like how indistinct it looked so I went back and “inked” it in Photoshop.

Because I wasn’t happy with the un-inked version, I went back and actually physically inked in the drawing and then coloured it in Photoshop. I think I actually like the “watercolour” version better (I love digital painting!) but the black-and-white one didn’t turn out too shabbily.

I’ve been meaning to make a spring desktop background for me and Bear for the longest time but haven’t been inspired. I sketched this out on the subway, scanned it, and then “inked” it in Photoshop before painting it in Corel Painter Essentials.

I struggled with figuring out how to turn the image into a desktop background because it would require an actual, well, background–at which I am notoriously terrible. I fudged this again in Corel Painter Essentials.

There you have it! Now I am off to bed and ponder out the next stage of revisions.
