No matter what they say publicly, the whole reason they changed it is because you can't own a generic name like SciFi, but you can own (and therefore control the meaning of) a non-existent word like SyFy. It's all Hollywood spin. (Being in SoCal has obviously made me cynical. Must be due to the lack of a basement to put a ping pong table in.) Fellow girl geek here to agree! I didn't know it was a zombie novel before I started, which is a good thing because I never would have started it so late at night had I know. It's not gory, not grusome, just full of suspense and great characters. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! 2010 is so loooong!
