New Addictions
I have a confession to make.
I am completely and utterly addicted to making stopmotion and hand drawn animation films. From whence does this latent desire from filmmaking arise? I have no idea.
When I was a child, I used to want to be a filmmaker or an animator but dismissed both careers as being unattainable. So what did I do instead? I got myself an English degree, one of the most useless (but still somewhat respectable) majors in the world. It didn’t help that my mother swore that I would attend art school “over her dead body”. My dad very unhelpfully suggested accounting. (Ha! My math skills are deplorable.)
Of course, now that I am out of college, my mother took me aside and berated me for not majoring in Illustration or Design and going to work for Pixar or something. Watch as I shake my head. (It is true that working for Pixar would be a dream come true in another life.)
Still, with the advent of services YouTube or Vimeo and do-it-yourself-at-home amateur programmes like iMovie, Garageband, Pencil, and iStopmotion, I can get my filmmaking fix in while I procrastinate from writing queries. Plus White-Harp likes being an internet sensation. (Ha.)
Okay, I swear this is the last of the filmmaking for a bit. I must be back to writing queries. Picking a good one is so much more difficult than writing one…
