Resolutions 2010

As an INFJ, I’m someone who likes to schedule and plan things and know what is to come in the future. I can be as spontaneous as the next person, but as a general rule, I like to have at least an idea of what’s going to happen. Because of that, I often like making resolutions because it gives me structure in my life. (When did I get so stodgy?)

Run, run, run, run

Training for a marathon

For me, odd years have tended to be better than even ones, but I am determined to make 2010 an exception to this rule. Gambatte! Aza aza fighting!

Retrospective 2009

When I left southern California yesterday, it was 80 degrees, sunny, clear, and beautiful. When I landed in New York, it was 20 degrees (windchill 4 degrees), dark, bitter, and miserable. It probably wasn’t the smartest decision to fly back to the East Coast late the night before I have to go to work, but I was limited in my flight options. Now I am thoroughly jetlagged, but thankfully I’m mostly caught up.

The Hills of Altadena

The hills of Altadena.

Later this week I intend to write up my reviews for RAMPANT, HUMMINGBIRDS, EXTRAS, and THE MAZE RUNNER, and I have a few publishing/writing thoughts in the works. But I decided I would take this time to look back at 2009.

Happy New Year!

I’ve had far less time to blog while on holiday than I had intended. Over the break I read THE MAZE RUNNER by James Dashner and FIRE by Kristin Cashore and caught up on a ton of reading for work. In addition to that, I’ve had Argos attached to my face since Christmas and I was busier taking photographs instead of blogging them.

Tteok Guk

Korean rice cake dumpling soup, or tteok guk.

Also, family. I feel grateful and blessed to be part of such a close-knit and loving family, even if we get into each other’s hair sometimes. Each one of us (with the exception of my grandmother) is an internet addict and there is only one computer with internet access in this house. One can only imagine the traffic jams that occur.

I have quite a backlog of things to write about, but in the meantime, have a look at my New Year’s Day, in which my family and I made dumplings from scratch for the traditional Korean dumpling soup. I gifted a Flickr Pro account to myself over the holidays, which can be found here.

I’m off to New York today. It was 77 degrees, clear, sunny, and beautiful in Pasadena yesterday. I hear it is 20 degrees (feels like 6) in New York. Watch as I cry.

I have retrospectives and resolutions to post as well, but until I have a computer all to myself again, I will rest with just one: find some kickass books to publish.
