Hmmm, I'm not quite sure how to put into coherent words on why I love the series, but like you said the whole "what happens next" and the discussion one can come up with in these books were engrossing, and so were the character, the world, and everything, really!

I mean, it's weird. I got into HP by reading the books myself and discussing it with my friends about it, but I didn't really become obsessed with it until I joined the HP fandom online! That opened up so many great cans of worm for me, so I became more involved with the characters and the world as I read and wrote all those fanfictions.

So I think with my involvement of the fandom, it allowed me to stay with Harry and the gang even with the end of the book (I'm not a fan of the movie, and I haven't watched any of it since the fourth one), and for what it's worth, Harry Potter is a timeless epic, like you said. For me Harry Potter has plenty of familiar themes that have already transcended through other timeless classics, and with JKR's style, she wrote it in a way that could be enjoyed and read by many.
