You can indeed go back or forward to specific locations in the book-on a Kindle. The menu has a go to function so you don't have to hit the page button a gajillion times. I read lots of eBooks and web fiction, but I do not have a device. I need something I can write stories on and do everything that an iPad does only with an actual keyboard. I read things on my computer, the only problem with that is the distraction factor. I read a lot of web fiction that should be in print format because I can sit and curl up with a book and not get distracted. With a laptop or a multi function eReader like the iPad, I would probably get distracted doing something else instead of reading. There's just something about the print book that will never go away and I think at this point in time, eReaders are really just a luxury and not really a necessity. I do want one eventually, but at this point in time I don't know what I would use it for. I figure if I'm going to buy a book, I'd rather have it in a tangible format.
