New Feature: Photo Friday

In line with the My Job is Not My Blog initiative I am undertaking, I have decided to expand what I decide to blog about into other areas I’m interested in/hobbies I have.

So without further ado, I’m going to introduce a Photo Friday weekly feature. You all may remember this past Christmas I received a Nikon D60 named Argos as a very generous gift from my parents. I also recently purchased my first prime lens for Argos (50mm 1.8), which takes some amazing photographs, if I could just figure out how to use the damn thing. (It has no autofocus. You wouldn’t believe how much I rely on autofocus.)

This week’s photos under the cut!

I need to get back into the habit of shooting on a whim. It’s pretty hard to force myself to go out and take photos, mostly because it requires me to consciously think about how I see the world. I see things differently through the lens and I pay more attention to small details. Photography also takes some time. Time to set up shots, time to get into place to take said shot, time to make mistakes–a whole bunch of time before you find an actual photo you like.

Of course, I’m a novice and this is an amateur hobby, so real photographers will probably have an easier time of it. Anyway, are any of you photographers? Any tips? Do you also do Photo Fridays?

Awesome! I dream of a camera like that. You wouldn’t call what I do photography so much as the desire to document everything with a Panasonic Lumix. Photo Fridays do sound like a good idea.
