Photo Friday: June 4

How on earth did it get to be Friday again without me blogging? I AM A BAD BLOGGER ACK. It seems as though I am only able to consistently do Photo Fridays, which is pretty terrible. Anyway, this week’s theme is fashion (especially shoes). Also, Karen Healey‘s signing at Books of Wonder.

Teal with Envy

You will see a lot of these shoes in this post. Because they're amazing.

Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/1.8
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 400

I had on the cutest outfit at work the other and I tried in vain to get shots of it as I was working at the same time. (I am a great multitasker, clearly.)

Legs. And Some Color.

Legs. And Some Color.

Isn't that pop of color just gorgeous?

Shoes At Work

Shoes at Work

These shoes are the ones doing actual work. Not me.

Exposure: 0.1 sec (1/10)
Aperture: f/3.8
Focal Length: 20 mm
ISO Speed: 400

Tropical in the City

Tropical in the City

I dislike the distortion of lower focal lengths, but it was the only way to get a full length shot of me. Also, my feet look totally awkward. This look was all about bright pops of color here and there.

Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture: f/4.2
Focal Length: 24 mm
ISO Speed: 400

Nerd Chic

Nerd Chic

I am all about the bookish nerd chic. So much so I actually own 2 pairs of these glasses.

Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 400

I think I might start a photography series called “Fashion Faux-Pas I See On the Subway”. There was a young man I saw wearing the most atrocious outfit ever, but I couldn’t get a good (and discreet) focused shot of him before he got off. Dammit.

Sheer Ankle Hose

Sheer Ankle Hose

However, I did manage to shoot this. Here we have sheer ankle hose and clogs. WHY.

Exposure: 0.25 sec (1/4)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 48 mm
ISO Speed: 1600
Exposure Bias: -1 EV

I could also do a subway series in general because sometimes I find the strangest things at different stops.

Holy Water

Holy Water

For instance, someone dropped this vial of holy water at the Astoria Blvd stop in Queens. Oh noes! Who will save us from the vampires now?

Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 800

Aperture: f/1.8

ISO Speed: 1600

And last, but not least, Karen Healey at Books of Wonder. I’m a total sucker for non-American accents. Hers is Kiwi!

Karen Healey

Karen Healey

Telling us all outrageous lies about where she got the idea for GUARDIAN OF THE DEAD. I can't remember if this was the motorcycle gang of zombies or the near-death deep sea scuba dive. Isn't she adorable?

Exposure: 0.125 sec (1/8)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 800

Unfortunately I had forgotten that I actually gave Trouble my copy of GUARDIAN OF THE DEAD to read (and he’s back in California), so I asked her to sign a slip of paper to slide into the book when I got it back. However, I did have a copy of THE DEMON’S COVENANT on hand and…

THE DEMON’S COVENANT by…Karen Healey?

THE DEMON'S COVENANT by...Karen Healey?

White-Harp didn't know THE DEMON'S COVENANT was written by Karen Healey.

Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/1.8
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 400

That’s all for this week! Hopefully next week I’ll be better about blogging and reviewing. We’ll see. I’m assisting another editor while her assistant is on maternity leave, not to mention we’re about to put SWEET VALLEY CONFIDENTIAL into production…

I love the grape stem pic. Amazing how that was gorgeous.

You know, I saw a framed picture on the wall at the doctor’s office today. Classic celebrities sat for a concert including Scarlett O’Hara and Ilsa Lund. But the accented color that both heroines wore was the exact same shade as your shoes. You could fit right in. :)
