Photo Friday: I Wish I Were Audrey Hepburn

I have gotten extremely lazy with the Photo Friday business. I really ought to start carrying Argos around again instead of leaving him at home just to shoot pictures of food and my clothes. I will spare you the food photography (it’s pretty bad as I do the majority of my cooking when lighting conditions aren’t ideal), but here’s another outfit.

I Wish I Were Audrey Hepburn

I call this look I Wish I Were Audrey Hepburn (some more Lookbook hype love?) because, well, I wish I were Audrey Hepburn. :) Tried to go for a gamine-type look, a sort of cross between Funny Face (one of my favourite movies) with a jacket that might have fit in Sabrina. Whatever, it made more sense in my head when I was culling together this look.

Short houndstooth jacket: gift from Mum from Korea
Pants: H&M
Sunglasses: FREAKING CHANEL GAAAAAAAH. These sunglasses terrify me. I wear cheapos because I lose, trash, or break all my sunglasses somehow. This was a gift from Mum (because I cannot afford Chanel), who thought 25 was a good age for my “first” couture item. Oh Mum. I love you. Also I AM NEVER WEARING THESE GLASSES EVER AGAIN THEY SCARE ME SO MUCH.

Good gracious, I have a fat face! I have a tendency to get jowly, like a bulldog, when I gain weight. Also, I am starting to look old. Yikes! Is this the quarter-life crisis people talk about?

In slightly more positive news, I can now fit comfortably into my tight black pants without the waistband digging into my hipbones, yay! Weight loss is so weird; usually my face is where you notice all weight gain/loss first, but this time, it seems to be my limbs. When I get to my comfortable weight again, I think ought to reward myself with something. Give me suggestions! Books are good rewards and good incentives, so list books you’ve loved that you think I should reward myself with when I lose 6 more pounds.

Ooo, I like the book reward challenge. Let’s see…

      FLASH BURNOUT by LK Madigan
PEGASUS by Robin McKinley (can’t wait for part 2 in 2012!)
HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET by Jamie Ford
SECRET LIFE OF BEES by Sue Monk Kidd
      BONESETTER’S DAUGHTER by Amy Tan
DRINKING COFFEE ELSEWHERE by ZZ Packer
      IN COLD BLOOD Truman Capote

      Ok that’s probably enough… :P

I have to second Flash Burnout. Also, The Magicians (Lev Grossman), An Abundance of Katherines (John Green), Of Blood And Honey (Stina Leicht), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time (Mark Haddon), The Time Traveler’s Wife (Audrey Niffenegger).

I was going to recommend A Reliable Wife as interesting and well-written, and then I checked your Goodreads list and saw your review of it. :) Did you really think of House of Mirth as a cautionary tale? And speaking of near-Victorian, have you seen Downton Abbey?

      LOVE the sunglasses!

Nice! I love the houndstooth jacket!!! Was gonna ask you where in Korea your mum bought it from. On second thought, it’s probably way too warm in Singapore to wear that. :P

      A good reward… what about an iPad2?
