Photo Friday: I Wish I Were Audrey Hepburn

I have gotten extremely lazy with the Photo Friday business. I really ought to start carrying Argos around again instead of leaving him at home just to shoot pictures of food and my clothes. I will spare you the food photography (it’s pretty bad as I do the majority of my cooking when lighting conditions aren’t ideal), but here’s another outfit.

I Wish I Were Audrey Hepburn

I call this look I Wish I Were Audrey Hepburn (some more Lookbook hype love?) because, well, I wish I were Audrey Hepburn. :) Tried to go for a gamine-type look, a sort of cross between Funny Face (one of my favourite movies) with a jacket that might have fit in Sabrina. Whatever, it made more sense in my head when I was culling together this look.

Photo Friday: February 25

Yay, I managed to make it to another Photo Friday! Boo, I have shot nothing of interest this week! I have been doing a bit of food photography, but that’s because I’ve made a concerted effort to start cooking more in order to 1) stop bleeding money and 2) lose weight.

It Was So Cold Lately They Turned Blue!*

Blueberries

Vanilla yogurt with blueberries.

Unfortunately I can’t show you the EXIF data of my food photos because I’ve forgotten what they were and I didn’t upload them to Flickr, so Flickr can’t tell me either. From what I remember, this was shot with my 35mm, ISO 200 or 400, f-stop 1.8, unknown shutter, exposure bias at…-5/3, I think?

*P.S. The person who can guess this reference wins a metaphorical gold star from me.

Photo Friday: November 12

I forgot last week’s Photo Friday when I actually had photos to show! Well, no matter as I actually don’t have any photos to show this week, so I will post the ones I meant to last week. Last week’s theme was Autumn because I am boring like that.

I love the body language of this couple.

Photo Friday: September 24

Lordy, it’s been ages since I last posted a Photo Friday. Truth be told, I haven’t been taking as many photos lately. (Dear Artistic Self: whither go ye?)

Mutant Face

I passed this while walking up Broadway to 32nd Street after work and thought it looked like a mutant smiley face.

Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture f/1.8
Focal Length 50 mm
ISO Speed 400

It’s a mish-mash under the cut, really. Assorted photos I shot if I remembered to bring my camera with me and a few portraits of people I know.

Photo Friday: The Junk Drawer

Right, so it’s been weeks since I’ve last posted a Photo Friday (Jesus, so busy), but it isn’t as though I haven’t been taking photographs. In fact, I’ve been shooting away like a busy little bee! In addition to Argos the Nikon D60, I’ve finally pulled out my mother’s old Canon EOS Rebel XS, which is a 35mm plastic SLR. The thing is nearly 20 years old, and for three years, languished at the back of my closet, forgotten and unloved. I finally replaced its battery and bought some film and have shot a few rolls, but since film seems to be passé these days I have not yet developed them.

Canon EOS Rebel XS

My mother's old Canon EOS Rebel XS, who very badly needs to be named and loved.

This Canon camera needs some loving. She also needs a name. Argos was named for the hundred-eyed giant who stood watch over Io. Argos was also called Panoptes, which means “all-seeing”, and I liked that he could see things through his lenses that I would have never noticed. Suggest names for me! Feminine names, I think, because she feels entirely different in my hands.

Photo Friday: White-Harp’s Day Out

Hey everyone! It’s me, White-Harp. JJ’s been so swamped with work and other stuff lately she’s asked me to do a guest blog post for her.

To which I say: FINALLY. It’s about time. I mean, I’m totally more famous on the internet than she is. Nobody from Twitter recognizes her in person without me in front of her face. Also, speaking of Twitter, it’s time I get an account myself, no?

Note from JJ: Not on your life.

Anyway, yesterday Psychic Roommate asked JJ if she could take me out for the day. I gave JJ my best puppy-eyed expression and she agreed. Yes! JJ never takes me anywhere. Besides, Psychic Roommate’s pretty cool and she lets me do stuff. I’m not a baby, despite what JJ says on Facebook.

White-Harp is spending the day with Psychic Roommate. I feel like an anxious mama sending her kid off to school for the first time.

Pffft, whatever. Psychic Roommate took really good care of me. No worries. Besides, if anything had happened, JJ would have dumped her body into the East River.

Photos under the cut!

Photo Friday: June 18

Whoops, I missed last week’s Photo Friday. Well, no matter, I didn’t have any decent photos to show you anyway. I’m glad I don’t have to do any strenuous blogging today because about 60% of my brain is devoted to the USA vs. Slovenia match going on right now. (And we’re sucking balls.) Summer Friday and I’m at work for 3 hours, but it’s the 3 hours during which the game is being played. >:-(

EDITED TO ADD: WHAT THE FUCK RUBBISH CALL WAS THAT? WE WERE FUCKING ROBBED. ROBBED. THAT WAS A WIN. REF NEEDS TO BE SHOT.

This week’s theme in photography appears to be Fashion and Nature. (What can I say? I like fashion.)

Red Desert

Shot this as I was flying back to NYC from California. The US Southwest is stunning from above.

Exposure: 0.02 sec (1/50)

Photo Friday: June 4

How on earth did it get to be Friday again without me blogging? I AM A BAD BLOGGER ACK. It seems as though I am only able to consistently do Photo Fridays, which is pretty terrible. Anyway, this week’s theme is fashion (especially shoes). Also, Karen Healey‘s signing at Books of Wonder.
