The Girl

JJ was born and raised in sunny southern California but has since transplanted herself to New York City, ostensibly to pursue a dual career as a Preppy Young Professional™ and a Starving Artist-Writer™. She cannot possibly tell you why she gave up gorgeous weather, serene beaches, and the smell of roses, canyons, and night-blooming jasmine for soul-sucking winters, unforgiving concrete, and all-night Ukranian diners in the East Village, but she blames it all on Sesame Street.

She is a voracious and indiscriminate reader, an avid traveller, something of an adrenaline junkie, and always on the lookout for the next big break. She also enjoys wearing top hats, watching Audrey Hepburn films, studying the history of aviation, and cuddling with stuffed baby harp seals.

Say What?

Wanna know the lowdown on JJ but don’t have the patience to read the extended autobiography? Then look no further!

  • JJ was born on July 9, 1985 in Los Angeles, California.
  • She is a Cancer sun sign with an Aries moon and Aquarius rising.
  • On weekends she enjoys jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and wants to be a skydiving instructor when she grows up.
  • The more absurd the better.
  • Her two best assets are named Molly and Merteuil and they are 34C.
  • She can’t hold her liquor.
  • Her favourite bands are The Libertines, The Velvet Underground, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Clash, and The Decemberists. She also loves trashy pop music but would never admit that upon pain of death.
  • The best food in the world is cheese.
  • She is something of a polyglot.
  • Neil Gaiman is her magical uncle. No, really.
  • JJ nurses a secret desire to be an astrophysicist.
  • While she loves an artistic quirky indie film as much as the next hipster girl, she would really much rather prefer it if you watched dumb action flicks with her (she’s especially partial to The Mummy and The Transporter).
