CAST OF CHARACTERS

ELIZABETH VOGLER, called Liesl. The daughter of innkeepers and a talented composer yearning for more.

THE GOBLIN KING, also known as the Lord of Mischief and Der Erlkönig. The enigmatic ruler of the Underground. His true name is lost to time.

FRANZ JOSEF VOGLER, called Josef by most and Sepperl or Sepp by Liesl. The youngest child of the Vogler family and a violin prodigy.

ANNA KATHARINA VOGLER, called Käthe. The middle Vogler child and the beauty of the family who wishes to be seen for more than just her looks.

GEORG, MAGDA, and CONSTANZE VOGLER. The father, mother, and superstitious, irascible grandmother of the Vogler family.

HANS, a bore. Käthe’s betrothed and Liesl’s unrequited love.

TWIG. A kindly goblin girl.

THISTLE. A grumpy goblin girl.

MASTER ANTONIUS. A violin master.

FRANÇOIS. A keyboard prodigy, and Master Antonius’s apprentice.

COUNT OTTO VON PROCHÁSKA UND ZU SNOVIN. The cheerful benefactor and patron of the Vogler family’s musical career in Vienna.

THE COUNTESS. The mysterious lady of Snovin Manor and the Count’s common-born wife.
